Our story
Located just minutes from Mas Saint Laurent, the Bamboo Garden in the Cévennes is one of the most remarkable gardens in Europe. This exceptional place was created in 1856 by the botanist Eugène Mazel, who was passionate about exotic plants. His ambition was to acclimatize different species of bamboo from Asia to the mild climate of the Cévennes.
Over the years, the garden has grown considerably, becoming a true haven of greenery. Today, visitors can discover several hundred species of bamboo, as well as a remarkable collection of rare trees, exotic plants, landscaped gardens, and greenhouses.
The Bamboo Garden is renowned for its commitment to biodiversity conservation and offers a peaceful stroll amidst spectacular vegetation. Its famous Laotian village, shaded walkways, and giant bamboo attract visitors from all over France and abroad every year.
Staying at Mas Saint Laurent, a hotel with a swimming pool near Alès, allows you to quickly reach the Bamboo Garden while enjoying the tranquility of the Cévennes. After your visit, you can relax by our pool or enjoy a meal in our restaurant.
